Our guides are fully certified with the Association of Canadian Mountain
Guides (ACMG) and are very knowledgeable. We provide two guides per full group
of 6 or more customers. We have a very open guiding policy at Sorcerer. Guests
are encouraged to discuss the trips and routes planned for the day. If anyone has
concerns, we are happy to listen, explain, instruct and adapt to make you comfortable.
Sorcerer does accept unguided groups. However, because of the seriousness of the terrain, we will request resume’s. We need to know that the group has the knowledge and the skills to deal with the glaciated country and the avalanche potential.
All Self Catered, Self Guided trips will have a custodian at the lodge. They will help you with the basic operation of the hut and assist in the many daily chores required to keep everyone comfortable. They also love to ski and will usually join the group when they can. However, they are NOT guides and are not qualified to give direction or lead. Groups that have chosen not to hire a guide must refrain from asking the custodian for advice. It puts our staff into a difficult liability situation.
Our cooks are experienced backcountry "artists" who know very well how much ski tourers can eat! Big meals are served family style and complimented with a steady supply of snacks for those big days on the mountain. We have no problem with vegetarian preferences, or allergies. For the Self Guided weeks a cook is optional. If you choose to go with a cook, we will gladly set you up with one of our experienced and talented staff.
The office is our home so you can call us any time of the day or evening. Emails are an excellent way to keep in touch as well as we usually pick them up several times a day. We run Sorcerer Lodge with a sense of humour and a love for both the business and the people who come to visit us. We have the best job on earth and are very fortunate that we can work it into the life of the whole family.
Occasionally the full service packages will also have a trainee guide join the trip. These are individuals that are working towards their guiding accreditation through the ACMG and need practicum experience. We consider this a mentoring and learning period for individuals. They will joined to keep the hut running and comfortable.
We are here to help you plan your perfect holiday and answer all your questions. Please feel free to get in touch with us for more information.
